UNDERSTANDING THE VAGUS NERVE

The vagus nerve is the longest and most complicated nerve in the body. It begins in the brainstem and wanders to almost every single organ in the body, including the heart, lungs, and digestive tract.

Because this meandering nerve touches just about every organ (except the adrenals) it plays a key role in tasks such as heart rate, blood pressure, breath rate, detoxification, sweating, digestion, and much more.

All these functions require our system to be in a “rest and digest” mode but sadly because of the fast-paced world we live in, we’re often stuck in “fight or flight”. This is why optimizing the function of the vagus nerve is crucial to good health.

In this guide and 4-week workbook, I will give you simple activities that you can easily incorporate into your daily life to be sure your vagus nerve is functioning in a way that supports good health.
